Scott Athmer grew up hunting, fishing, and doing about anything a kid could do outdoors in rural Clinton County, Illinois. He currently lives just outside of Highland, IL with his beautiful wife, Heather, and his two children, Abby and Josh.
After spending three years in the U.S. Army, Scott returned and finished college while spending the next several years farming with his father-in-law. Over time, Scott found excitement in combining his passion for the outdoors and hunting with helping people find a place to call their own. His family bought their first true piece of hunting property in 2006. He cherishes the time he spent with his Dad improving the property, designing and putting in the food plots, narrowing down the funnels and stand locations, and ultimately being able to take several great bucks. This property has given Scott the opportunity to share his passion with both of his children who were able to take their first deer with him in the stand!
Scott has been a professional videographer for several different shows on outdoor television since 2002 and continues to film with the show Adrenaline and has been with them since its creation in 2006. Scott’s filming career has allowed him the opportunity to have access to some of the greatest whitetail habitat in the country. More importantly, he has been able to spend time with owners and managers of these properties and learn from them about how and why they set up the farms the way they do! Scott has helped develop and implement plans for properties ranging in size from 50 acres all the way up to over 2,000 acres. These management plans have included everything from hinge cutting, planting grasses for bedding, planting food plots and determining stand locations. Scott will never forget the first time he spoke to an owner that set a farm up based on how he could take big deer, rather than maximizing the farming potential. Coming from a family with a farming background, that whole concept was more than he could grasp at the time!
About ten years ago, Scott was bitten by the waterfowl bug and always looks forward to taking a break from the tree stand, when the winds turn out of the north and the weatherman says there is a big front coming. There are few things better in the outdoors than hanging out with a good dog, friends, and family, watching the sun rise, while the birds are finishing in the decoys! Scott usually wraps up the season chasing snow geese as often as he can as a guide with South Central Snows Outfitters.
Joining Trophy Properties and Auction is allowing Scott to start a new chapter in his life. He looks forward to meeting people and helping them realize their dreams of owning property. Please contact Scott if you know anyone that is interested in buying or selling a house or a farm in Illinois. He looks forward to hearing from and working with you!
