Lucy Timber Inc. is one of the oldest duck clubs in the Swan Lake area. The clubs tradition of waterfowl conservation, hunting, and history dates back more than 100 years, to 1913. The 245-acre wetland is surrounded by many other well-known clubs and high-quality waterfowl habitat. It lies one mile west of Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge and across the road from Yellow Creek Conservation Area. Due to the Swan Lake area’s intensive management and waterfowl focus, it has become a major stop-over site and mainstay in the modern mallard migration. The Yellow Creek bottom in Chariton County offers arguably, some of the best waterfowl hunting opportunity in Missouri. The entire area is well-developed which holds and feeds a tremendous amount of birds and creates exceptional traffic over Lucy Timber’s hunting pools. The bottoms flood frequently and provide some unimaginable flooded timber action some years.

The turn-key club has four pools, which function independently, thanks to the strategic water level management capability. The two larger pools, Big Lake, which has a super low-profile 6-man pit and the Resting Pool, offer phenomenal moist soil and emergent marsh habitat. The Lucy Lake is a smaller, more intimate pool with an ultra-comfortable 6-man concrete pit blind. The Timber Lake is secluded by mature Red and Pin Oak timber and has two 6-man stand-up wooden blinds located on the east and west edges of the pool. Each pool can be flooded with the high-volume 8” pump truck from one location that gravity feeds all the pools through an intricate ditching regime. Additionally, each pool can be drained individually to maximize the diversity in moist soil management. There are several other opportunities for development on this property, multiple timber holes can be added to maximize the hunting opportunities on this tract.

The Lucy Timber Cabin is located just 4.5 miles south of the property on Hog Ridge Avenue, on the north end of the quiet community of Dean Lake. The rustic cabin is completely furnished and includes the original log books with journal entries dating back more than 100 years. The cabin has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, living room and dining area. The cabin will sleep 10+ men comfortably and additional beds could be added to accommodate even more hunters. Just behind the cabin is a shed that houses all the decoys, the boat, pump truck, fuel tank and other equipment during the off-season.

Exceptional waterfowl hunting properties like Lucy Timber Inc. rarely hit the open market. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase a duck club that has a rock-solid history and an extremely bright future.
